Transcritical aggregates with factor CO2 – CR series
With the expansion of the CR series with new MT/LT 4 HP models, users can choose from a wide range of refrigeration systems that meet the specific needs of small retail stores.
Why CO2 ? Natural refrigerant
The EU F-gas regulation is a key priority for European countries. The regulation ensures compliance with the Kigali Amendment, which confirms the international community's climate commitments on greenhouse gases and aims to achieve a global transition to climate-friendly technologies without hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
Carbon dioxide (R744) is regaining its place in refrigeration.
In connection with environmental concerns, new regulations introduce the obligation to increase the use of "alternative" refrigerants, such as CO2. It is an environmentally friendly substance and occurs naturally in the atmosphere, which confirms zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and global warming potential (GWP) = 1.
Since the introduction of the F-gas regulation in 2015, European companies have been gradually moving away from the use of HFCs.
Other countries around the world are also actively preparing to adopt the necessary regulations to implement the agreement on the restriction of the use of HFCs. Panasonic is currently introducing CO2 refrigeration systems to the European market, which will help prevent global warming and reduce the carbon footprint of retail outlets.
The table below shows the very favorable parameters of R744 (CO2) in terms of environmental impact and safety.
1. Highest efficiency and reliable quality
- Panasonic's solution combines a 2-stage compressor with a split cycle to increase efficiency
- High seasonal efficiency. SEPR: max. 3.83 in cooling mode and 1.92 in freezing mode 1)
- High COP even at high ambient temperatures
1) 200VF5A.
2. Flexible installation
- Medium or low temperature setting ranges available depending on application
- Compact dimensions
- Quiet operation
- Long pipe runs: max. 100 m 2)
- High external static pressure 2)
- Variable pressure control for stable expansion valve control in refrigerated racks 2)
2) 1000VF8/8A.
3. Heat recovery connection - renewable energy source
- Max. 16.7 kW of heating energy for free
- Possibility of obtaining subsidy (depending on location)
- Easy unit connection
Highest cooling capacity at any evaporation temperature
Transcritical CO2 units deliver high cooling capacity at any setting. Panasonic’s two-stage CO2 compressor compresses the refrigerant twice; compared to a single-stage compressor, this reduces the operating load by half, providing greater durability and reliability. The units can be configured for low to medium temperature operation. These settings can then be modified using a simple, user-friendly rotary switch – to further enhance energy savings.

Panasonic has combined 2-stage compressor technology with split cycle
· Panasonic 2-stage rotary compressor ensures high efficiency for over 20 years
· Split cycle* enhances cooling effect
* Available in 200VF5A and 1000VF8A models.
** Compared to the standard cycle performed by a 1-stage rotary compressor.
